Luminance

Definition

The luminance is the physical measure, which defines the light intensity ratio in the direction of illumination to the illumination surface projection area to the perpendicular surface of this direction.

1 candela per square metre is the luminance, equal to the intensity of the uniform illumination of a surface of 1 square meter by a luminous flux perpendicular with the intensity of 1 candela.
