The area of a spherical layer

Definition:

A layer of a sphere is a part of a sphere that is sectioned between two parallel planes of sectioning. Spherical girdle is the curve surface of the spherical layer. The circles ABC and DEF are bases of the spherical girdle. The distance between bases is the height of the spherical layer.

The area of a spherical layer as for a spherical calotte, is equal to the doubled product of Pi, height of the layer and radius of the sphere.
